Our Story
The Full Story
STUDIO FORMA was built on a simple idea: women in midlife deserve a fitness space designed around what their bodies actually need and a space to feel safe and welcome, always.
Our Story
I opened STUDIO FORMA in Nottingham in November 2025, just before I turned 50, with a clear sense of who I wanted to build it for. Women like me.
Perimenopause and menopause bring real, physical change. Muscle mass declines faster. Bones lose density. Joints can feel less forgiving. Strength training becomes less of a nice to have and more of a genuine necessity. Yet so much of the fitness world still treats this stage of life as an afterthought, if it treats it at all.
I wanted to build something different. A studio where strength is designed with these changes in mind, not despite them. A studio where you're pushed properly, but never at the cost of your joints or your confidence. A place where turning fifty feels like the beginning of getting stronger, not the start of slowing down.
That's what STUDIO FORMA is.
What We Believe
Strength changes everything. Building real strength through midlife protects your bones, your muscles, your metabolism and your independence for decades to come. It's not about chasing a number on the scale. It's about being able to do everything you want to do, for as long as you want to do it. Longevity is what we're aiming for!
Low impact doesn't mean low intensity. Reformer Pilates lets us train hard without punishing your joints. You'll leave every class having worked, properly, without the next day recovery that high impact training so often demands.
This stage of life deserves better than being an afterthought. Every class, every instructor, every decision at STUDIO FORMA is made with the perimenopausal and menopausal woman in mind first, not fitted in around a younger demographic.
Community matters as much as the workout. Some of the best conversations happen on the reformer next to you. We've built a studio where you're known by name, not just a booking on a screen.
Where We Are Now
STUDIO FORMA has grown from that first Nottingham studio into a small, dedicated team of instructors who share the same belief in training women properly through midlife. In September 2026, we're opening our second studio at Gaol Street in Oakham, bringing the same approach to a new community.
Every instructor on our team is chosen not just for their qualifications, but for the way they teach: with care, attention and a genuine understanding of what your body is going through. They will all make you feel like you matter. Which to us, you really do.
