Reformer Pilates is a low-impact, full-body workout performed on a special machine called a Reformer, which uses springs, ropes, and pulleys to provide resistance, support, and a wide range of motion. It builds strength, flexibility, good posture, balance, and coordination through slow, controlled movements that engage the deep core muscles. The adjustable resistance makes it a versatile option for all fitness levels, from beginners to those looking to enhance an existing practice
Please arrive 10 minutes early so that your instructor can welcome you and address any concerns you may have. They will show you to your reformer and explain how it works - it's a lot simpler than it looks! They will keep an eye on you through the class and check in with you after to see if you have any questions. Our aim is to make you feel welcome and ensure you love your first experience.
Yes of course! That's exactly why we are ready to welcome you. There is absolutely no judgement in our body-positive studio! We recommend a 3 week intro class pack which will give you enough of a feel for Reformer and time to experience what STUDIO FORMA offers (and you'll probably be addicted by week 3!)
Wear comfortable clothing that you can move easily in, gym leggings are most popular. You will also need to wear a pair of grip socks which can be purchased in our studio
Each class is 50 minutes long. We start off with a warm-up to make sure your muscles and joints are ready for exercise. We then move into a full-body workout using the reformer to add resistance and stability. We always close with 'feet in straps' to cool down (AKA the best bit!)
Please bring grip socks, or if you forget them we have socks you can purchase in the studio. Also bring a water bottle and a towel if you feel like you need it. Other than that, just bring yourself and we will do the rest!
Please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before the advertised class start time as there will most likely be another class still in session. You are welcome to sit in the waiting area if you are early or grab a coffee at Advantage Padel
We consider you late if you arrive 1 minute after the advertised class start time. We unfortunately won't be able to let you in past this time to prevent injury and to be mindful of the teacher and other participants in the class. You will be charged for your class if you are deemed late.
Yes you can use the on-site cafe at Advantage Padel for tea, coffee, soft drinks or even a sneaky post class glass of wine. They also serve delicious snacks too.
It all depends on what results you are after. If you are a beginner and just trying it out then once a week is perfectly fine until you find your groove. If you are after better results, developing your strength and flexibility then we would recommend twice a week. But if you really want to see results then three times a week will definitely get you there. We warn you - it is addictive!
It depends on what the injury is - our teachers can modify classes to accommodate most injuries but please ensure you make your teacher aware before the start of class so they can help you participate safely and effectively
If you are brand new to STUDIO FORMA and have recently been exercising then we recommend you join our FORMA FOUNDATIONS classes and speak to the instructor beforehand. Exercise during pregnancy should not be about improving muscle tone. It should be about maintaining health, posture and a positive mental attitude so please take it at a steady pace and stop whenever you need to.
Up to 15 weeks:
Doctor's approval required for high-risk pregnancies. You may continue group classes up to the 15th week. Please ensure your instructor is informed what week of pregnancy you are at the beginning of each class, as modifications of certain exercises will need to be given.
Beyond 15 weeks:
You cannot attend our group classes after you are 15 weeks along unless it is a pre-natal class.
Post-natal:
Every mother’s postpartum experience is unique. After your 6-8 week check-up post-birth, as long as you have clearance, you can begin to ease yourself back into our classes, ensuring that you take it easy.
We are situated in front of the Advantage Padel club at 19 Daleside Road, NG2 3GJ. Coming from Colwick and Netherfield we are just after Aldi but you will need to go up to the traffic lights to come back on yourself to get to us. If you are coming from Nottingham city centre or over Lady Bay Bridge then we are just after the BP garage on the left. We have ample parking in the car park to the right of the building. There is a STUDIO FORMA sign on our building and the entrance is through the gates and right.
We have ample parking to the right of the Advantage Padel building, with signs for the car park
You need to be over 18 to join a class for insurance reasons but other than that, no - the sky is the limit! In fact the older you are the better as we can help you age with vitality, keep those joints supple, build some muscle and improve your bone density with regular sessions. It's never too late to start reformer Pilates - plus it's low impact so it won't put pressure on your joints.
