Why Physio and Reformer Pilates Are Better Together

If you have ever come to class with a niggly knee, a cranky lower back, or a shoulder that just will not settle, you already know the question that runs through your head: is this something I should be moving through, or something I should be resting?
That question is exactly why we are so excited to introduce our first onsite physio clinic at STUDIO FORMA.
Two disciplines, one goal
Physiotherapy and reformer Pilates are often treated as separate worlds. One diagnoses and treats an issue. The other builds strength, control, and mobility around it. In reality, they work best as a pair.
A good physio can tell you exactly what is going on in a joint or muscle, why it is behaving the way it is, and what movements to avoid in the short term. Reformer Pilates then gives you a safe, supported way to keep moving, rebuild strength around the area, and stop the same issue from creeping back once it has settled.
For the women we work with at STUDIO FORMA, many of whom are navigating the joint stiffness, changes in bone density, and shifting recovery times that come with perimenopause and menopause, this pairing matters more than ever. Bodies in this stage of life are not broken. They simply need smarter support, and that is exactly what a physio and a reformer instructor working together can offer.
What this actually looks like
Rather than guessing whether a class is right for your body on any given week, or working around an old injury without really knowing why it flares up, you get the chance to ask a qualified physio directly. They can look at what is going on, explain it in plain terms, and where useful, help us tailor how you move in class around it.
It also means our instructors are not working in the dark. Where appropriate, and always with your consent, we can build a clearer picture of what your body needs, so your classes work with your recovery instead of guessing around it.
Meet Claire from Re:Nu Physio
We are delighted to welcome Claire from Re:Nu Physio as our onsite physio partner. Claire will be running the first of hopefully regular clinic sessions at STUDIO FORMA, giving our members direct access to expert physio advice without needing to book a separate appointment elsewhere.
Come along to our first drop in session
Monday 5th October, 6pm to 7.30pm
This first session is a relaxed, no pressure drop in. Pop by with any niggles, aches, old injuries, or general questions about how your body is moving and Claire will talk you through what she is seeing and what might help. No booking needed, no obligation, just an open evening to get some answers.
Whether it is a knee that has been bothering you for months or a question you have never quite got round to asking, this is the perfect chance to bring it along.
We cannot wait to see you there.
