Reformer Pilates Nottingham: Why Walking More Can Transform Your Results

At STUDIO FORMA, our reformer Pilates studio in NG2, we talk a lot about strength, tone, and building confidence in the studio but there’s something much simpler that often gets overlooked: walking.
For so many of the women I work with, especially those navigating perimenopause or menopause, the pressure to do more intense workouts can feel overwhelming. The truth is, one of the most powerful (and underrated) things you can do for your body is simply to move more throughout your day.
And that’s where walking comes in.
Living and working in Nottingham, we’re actually in such a great position to build this into daily life. With the new Waterside Bridge opening on June 2nd, it’s about to get even better. If you’re coming from Lady Bay or West Bridgford, your walk to the studio will not only be quicker, but genuinely more enjoyable.

I’m a big believer in this because I do it myself. I walk to the studio every single day, usually across Lady Bay Bridge, and it’s become a non-negotiable part of my routine. It’s where I wake up properly, clear my head, and get those steps in without even thinking about it.
And that’s the key — it doesn’t have to feel like “exercise”.
Walking regularly can:
Support fat loss without stressing your body
Improve mood and reduce anxiety
Help regulate hormones
Boost energy (especially when you feel like you have none)
Complement your strength training, rather than compete with it
If you’re already coming to classes, you’re doing the hard part. But layering in more daily movement — like walking to and from the studio — is often what accelerates results and, more importantly, makes you feel better in your body.
So if you’re local, here’s your gentle nudge. Park a little further away. Walk instead of driving when you can. Try the new bridge route when it opens.
Make it part of your lifestyle, not another thing on your to-do list.
Because feeling strong and confident isn’t just about what happens in the studio — it’s about how you move through your whole day.
If you’ve been thinking about trying reformer Pilates but feel a bit unsure where to start, this is exactly why STUDIO FORMA exists.
Our beginner classes are designed so you never feel out of place. Just supported, guided and stronger each time you walk in.
